Tea artisans advise that one of the secrets behind the excellent taste of loose green tea is an excellent tea infuser. Infusers hold the loose tea leaves while they steep. They allow the leaves to swell to release the wonderful flavor and aroma of the tea. Another important function of the infuser is to keep the loose green tea leaves from infiltrating the water so you don’t need to strain the brew before drinking.
The Many Types of loose Green Tea Infuser
Just like teas, there are many types of infusers. Every type has its own function because each type of tea also needs its own specific way of preparation. So selecting an infuser depends on the type of tea you normally drink.
A common kind of infuser is the tea ball and tea egg. These two are circular and with two sides of the same sizes. They open at the center and then fasten together once you close the two sides together. For easier removal from the tea cup, a chain is fixed to the infuser so you just pull it out when steeping is done.
Infuser cups are popular with many tea drinkers. A plastic or ceramic infuser is attached to the cup with a lid on top for keeping in the heat. This type is generally for a single tea drink. If you want more cups of your favorite loose green tea, a better option would be a tea pot with infuser. This can hold more tea and is basically, a larger version of the infuser tea cup.
While most tea experts know leaves need to be steeped for a certain time and no more, most tea drinkers aren’t aware of this. So make sure to read the instructions on the box of your favorite loose green tea for the recommended steeping time.
