Loose Green Tea or a Teabag?

It is not the only method though, as people come to understand the greater benefits of properly brewing many types of tea, including loose green tea leave, compared to using the ordinary tea bag.

Loose Green Tea vs. Tea Bag

Loose green tea has more complete tea leaves than those packaged in the bag (which are generally the ‘leavings’ or bits left over). Using the whole leaf means there is less processing so the natural oils and flavor of the tea is much more intact and makes the tea more tasty. The bigger tea leaves have better quality and contain higher anti-oxidant content and taste fresher than the ordinary tea bag.

Tea, in whatever form, needs to unfurl properly to release its flavor and essential oils. It has to be able to have space to delicately expand and puff out and, with a loose tea all this is possible, unlike the tea captured in a small teabag. Of course great brewing of loose green tea requires that you have the time to do it and the necessary equipment. You need to make exact measurements, heat the water just right and let it steep based on the tea’s requirement.

This may sound quite a handful when weighed up against just dropping a teabag in the pot.  But the experience and the flavor of the whole ritual does make for a significantly better cup of tea and so, for many, the time and effort is worth it.
