Blooming Tea at Hong Kong Airport

Flew over the home of tea recently – China – and managed to see the night sky, the night lights of all the vessels on the Hong Kong harbour and the airport. That was it. We were on our way to London from Sydney via Hong Kong. Although I would have loved to visit some tea gardens and find out first hand how blooming tea balls are made, this trip was not the time to do that.
The stopover at Hong Kong was uneventful except for the lightening storm nearby which we obviously managed to get through safely!
Cruising the shops at the airport where there is so much food and drink (so very different from the western culture) and there on the shelves were packets of beautifully formed jasmine flowering tea balls
(also known as blooming tea balls). Both kinds, red and yellow, in packets of five. Unfortunately I had no Hong Kong dollars and the amount was so small that credit card wouldn’t have worked – the transaction fee would have been greater than the price of the packet I suspect.
So, I took a photo. I think it will be my mission to see where in London and Europe I can find flowering tea balls. Once we’ve stocked up on euros I will actually be able to buy some product.
Post trip: I saw no tea products at all. In Europe it seems water, coffee, wine, beer and other alcoholic beverages are more popular than tea!
