Tea and flowering tea history. Like any other important subject, the history of tea drinking was recorded as far back as 2727 BC, when an emperor, who likes to drink boiled water for health reasons, by the name of Shen Nung, decided to take it easy and rest near a bush, wherein a leaf from that plant dropped and settled in his cup of hot water. When he drank the resulting brew, he discovered it to be refreshing and quite tasty.

That plant was later on known as Camellia sinensis, where most teas derive. It has ever since been consumed in China and other parts of the East, not only for its delicious and pleasing taste but for its medicinal benefits as well. Tea drinking has then produced its own rituals and become a part of bigger ceremonies and events in people’s lives. It has been used to help keep people alert and awake and improve their health status in general.
